JEWELRY CARE INSTRUCTION

GOLD/SILVER PLATED JEWELRY CARE TIPS Please note most of my gold plated and silver plated jewelry are plated over brass. This type of metal is NOT WATERPROOF. It tarnishes much quicker than gold filled and sterling silver.
✓ Avoid water, swimming, sweating and high humidity.
✓ Remove jewelry at night to extend the life of your jewelry.
✓ Do not clean with chemicals.
✓ Use clean, soft, dry cloth to polish the jewelry after wearing.
✓ Store the jewelry in jewelry boxes/bags or soft velvet and avoid long-term exposure to moist air or strong light.

JEWELRY AND SILVER CARE
*Away from salt water, chlorine, sauna or any chemicals (hairspray, perfume, oils, lotions, etc.)
*Store jewelry in an airtight plastic bag to help prevent tarnishing.
*Tarnishing of silver and brass does happen after continuous wear from contact with moisture/oils from the skin, perfume, lotions and exposure to the natural elements.
Regular cleaning: Soap and water or a polishing cloth.

CARING FOR STERLING SILVER
*Regular cleaning: 100% cotton (nub free) cloth , a special sterling silver cleaning cloth (a popular choice is Sunshine Polishing Cloth) or very soft bristle brush, like a baby’s tooth brush or a horsehair silver brush, flannel cloth and gently rub off any excess makeup.
*Silver is a very soft metal and you can scratch it if you aren’t careful so don’t rub it too briskly.
*Never use —> silver dips for removing oxidation from your silver jewelry as it will leave microscopic pits causing it to darken faster.
*Dirt left over from previous cleanings can scratch the surface as well.
*Store jewelry in an airtight plastic bag to help prevent tarnishing.

CARING FOR CUBIC ZIRCONIA
*Regular cleaning: trusted jewelry cleaner, warm water and mild soap, a cotton or flannel cloth to wipe your jewelry clean. A special jewelry polishing cloth would be perfect (a popular choice is Sunshine Polishing Cloth). Using straight, back and forth strokes, polish your jewelry and remove any surface dirt and dust.
*Do not rub in a circular motion.
*Store your jewelry in an airtight, sealable plastic bag.

CARING FOR RHODIUM PLATED SILVER
*Regular cleaning: With warm water and a mild liquid soap (like ivory dishwashing soap). Rinse and dry with a soft polishing cloth immediately to avoid mineral residue from the water.
*Never use any chemicals , ultrasonic cleaner, silver dips, polishing cloths ,ammonia-based products, or to use toothpaste on the product.

CARING FOR GOLD
*Gold can be dirtied or dulled by the oils in your skin, body lotion, makeup or other substances.
*Regular cleaning: With mild detergent and a soft cloth. Mix a squeeze of mild dish detergent with warm water in a bowl. Put the gold item into the soap mixture and let sit for a few minutes. Use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub the jewelry. Remove item from soapy water, rinse it and dry thoroughly with a soft polishing cloth.

CARING FOR GOLD VERMEIL
*Regular cleaning: Clean gold vermeil by washing the jewelry in warm soapy water. Use lukewarm water (not hot as it can crack some stones) and a couple drops of non-film leaving dish soap (not antibacterial). Use a soft toothbrush to get into tight places. Rinse and dry with a soft polishing cloth immediately to avoid mineral residue from the water.

CARING FOR GOLD PLATING
*Keep away from hard surfaces.
*Bumps and scratches will cause the gold layer to wear away faster.
*Store your gold-plated jewelry in a velvet lined jewelry box, or wrap it in a soft material that will prevent scratches.
*Regular cleaning: Wipe with a damp cotton cloth, a non-abrasive jewelry polishing cloth and gently rub the gold-plated jewelry to restore shine.

CARING FOR GOLD FILLING.
*Regular cleaning: Wipe with a soft cloth tor a polishing cloth will not reach to take a small bowl that will hold about a quart of water and line it with aluminum foil. Add hot water and a tablespoon of Tide washing powder (not liquid or with bleach) and stir. Place your jewelry in the solution for about 1 minute and rinse with clean water and air dry. If you have a build-up of dirt in hard to reach places, just put a little dish washing liquid in a bowl of water and soak overnight.

CARING FOR GEMSTONES
*Take it off before strenuous exercise.
*Never remove rings by pulling on the stone: that habit may result in a loose, then lost, gem. Most importantly, store each piece of gemstone jewelry separately so that harder stones don’t scratch softer ones.
*Regular cleaning: Wiped clean with moist cloth.
*Keep away from chemicals in hairspray, cosmetics, or perfume: they can, over time, damage pearls in particular.
*Never use an ultrasonic, never use ammonia or any chemical solution, and avoid heat and strong light. Opaque gemstones like lapis lazuli, turquoise, malachite, require special care because they are rocks, not crystals of a single mineral like transparent gems.

CARING FOR STAINLESS STEEL
*Stainless steel jewelry can tarnish over time.
*Avoid contact with chemicals (lotions, chlorine from pools etc.).
*Regular cleaning: use mild dishwashing liquid (two or three drops in warm water will do) and wipe it down with a soft cloth.
